Uh… No.
That’s not at all what this says. There is no “thing” here at all! It says everyone that ask shall receive, not anything asked for. There is a great difference.
This scripture is a beautiful view of the heart of our Father in heaven, He will not turn you away, not be too busy. He is waiting to hear from you. This is about relationship, not things. Shall a holy God be reduced to a formula or force for us to manipulate for our own lustful pleasures? NO! Never!
How sad would it be to trade a relationship with our Father for no more than things. How sad indeed! The Creator of the universe is waiting to reveal His heart to you, and we trade that for a new car? A bigger house? A few more dollars? Is that what Jesus suffered and died for? How shallow and appreciative can man be? No!
This speaks of an open door to the one who made you, who waits for you, who we rejected and still came to find you. This speaks of knowing deep inside WHY am I here? What’s the purpose of going on? What’s the meaning of life itself?!
Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find.
Where do you knock? Many knock on the door of man’s wisdom, still stuck in that fateful day of the garden so long ago with the lie of “you can be like God, do it your way”. Man still tries to do life his own way, still rebelling, still eating of the forbidden fruit. Seeking to find a path to be like God without God.
Knock on the doors of heaven, knock on the library of God, knock on the door to the one who loves you just as you are. We do have to knock, that’s our part. The rest is up to God according to His promise. He will open to you.
Ask, seek, knock. Not for silly temporary things… But for a relationship, for wisdom from above, to know the meaning of life from the one who designed it.
He will not turn you down.
